Max Eberl is planning to step down as Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director, according to several reports from Germany.

The main reason for this is said to be internal disagreements within the club that have existed for some time.

Bild reports that Eberl has already informed the club's leading players of his impending resignation.

It's unclear exactly when Eberl will leave his position, but he could resign as early as after the winter transfer window closes.

According to Sport1, it's clear within the club that the 48-year-old will leave in the summer at the latest despite being under contract until 2026.

Eberl is already being linked with RB Leipzig, who have been looking for a new sporting director for some time.

According to Sky Germany, however, the 48-year-old doesn't have a new club on his radar yet.

Eberl has spent the last 13 years as Gladbach sporting director. 'Die Fohlen' are currently in a big sporting crisis, having taken just four points from their last eight games.
