Newcastle reject second Bayern bid for Trippier, report claims

Online sports journal "The Athletic" reports that Newcastle United have rejected a second FC Bayern München offer for fullback Kieran Trippier.
After numerous sources (including Sky Germany and Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano) reported earlier today that Newcastle United rejected an initial offer for 33-year-old fullback Kieran Trippier, online sports journal "The Athletic" now reports that the Magpies have turned down FC Bayern München's second approach. A significantly upped offer for Trippier was reported to be in the €15-million range.

English sources such as the Guardian reported over the weekend that Trippier personally has okayed a permanent transfer to the German record champions. Bayern's preferred candidate to help shore up their defensive corps during the current January transfer window - former RB Leipzig and current PSG defender Nordi Mukiele - may possibly be subject to a rethink over a reported failed medical in the past.

Trippier currently maintains an estimated market worth of €11 million in the latest transfermarkt update. With a loan deal for the former Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid star apparently out of the question, it remains uncertain as to whether the German giants will be willing to go much higher above their second purchase offer.
