Hoeness: 'I would buy Mbappé immediately'

Bayern München boss Uli Hoeness is well impressed with Kylian Mbappé.
Bayern München president Uli Hoeness says he would bring Kylian Mbappé to Allianz Arena in a heartbeat if it was possible.

However, the 67-year-old is well aware that Bayern can't afford the 20-year-old who joined Paris Saint-Germain from Monaco for €180 million.

"I would buy Mbappé immediately. He's a great player. But we don't have the necessary funds for that," Hoeness said in an interview with DPA.

Bayern München recently smashed their transfer record as they paid €80 million to sign Lucas Hernandez from Atlético Madrid. But Hoeness says the Bavarians are unlikely to cross the €100 million line anytime soon.

"Certainly not this year. And I have to admit that I couldn't have imagined paying €80 million 10 years ago," he said and went on comment further on Bayern's signing of Lucuas Hernandez:

"Until recently, it was said that with our cautious transfer policy, Bayern have no chance of breaking into the phalanx of the English and Spanish top clubs as well as Paris Saint-Germain. Now we deliver, and people shout, 'how can you spend 80 million on a player?'

Bayern didn't spend a single cent on transfers last summer.
