Report: Dortmund deals to sign Rijkhoff and sell Toljan are done

Borussia Dortmund will likely confirm two transactions within days.
Germany's SportBild claims that reports surfacing in the Dutch media over the weekend are correct. The BVB and 15-year-old Dutch prospect Julian Rijkhoff have an agreement signed. The young attacker is set to join to officially join the BVB reserves on January 25th; his 16th birthday.

SportBild also reports that on-loan right-fullback Jeremy Toljan has reached the minimum number of appearances at Serie A side US Sassuolo to trigger a purchase clause. The 26-year-old German international made only 23 competitive appearances for the Schwarzgelben since being purchased for €7 million from Hoffenheim in 2017.

Toljan was first loaned out to Celtic Glasgow, then Sassuolo. The Stuttgart native, son of an African American father and Croatian mother, found a home and regular place in the starting XI in Northern Italy. Toljan had reportedly long wished to make the loan permanent. In extending his loan last spring, Dortmund built in the automatic purchase clause at the behest of his agent.

According to information from the German Boulevard-Zeitung, Dortmund will pocket a €5 million transfer fee. The club initially negotiated a €2.25 million loan fee for the player and may have obtained additional funds when the loan was extended.

Official confirmation from the club remains on both deals. It's possible that the Toljan move will be tacked on to the next major transactional announcement.
