Nick Woltemade has admitted he is longing for a rest after a hectic period.

The VfB Stuttgart forward featured in both of Germany’s senior national team’s UEFA Nations League Final Four matches before heading to Slovakia for the U21 European Championship.

After netting a hat-trick in Germany’s 3-0 opening win over Slovenia, Woltemade delivered another standout performance in Sunday’s 4-2 victory against the Czech Republic

Amid ongoing speculation about his future, the 23-year-old now hopes for a breather as the German U21s have secured progression from the group stage.

“Honestly, I just want to rest,” Woltemade said in a post-match interview after Germany's win over the Czech Republic.

“It’s been a tough schedule, and I’ve played a lot of minutes in a short time.”

      He added:

“The goals feel great, but I’m also happy for the others. I’m very proud of us.”

Meanwhile, Woltemade received praise from teammate Nicolò Tresoldi, who described him as “the perfect strike partner,” and U21 coach Antonio Di Salvo, who said:

“I don’t need to say more about how important Nick is to us. He changes our game.”
