Last week, it was reported that 1. FC Union Berlin centre-back Diogo Leite was close to a move to SS Lazio.

However, according to Kicker, his proposed winter transfer to Italy has fallen through.

As a result, Leite will remain at Union Berlin until the summer, when his contract expires.

The 27-year-old was forced off with a thigh injury during Union Berlin’s 3-1 defeat to Hoffenheim at the weekend.

He has made a total of 129 appearances for the German capital club in total.
