Hainer keen to keep Kimmich: "I'd be happy if he ended his career at Bayern"

Bayern Munich CEO Herbert Hainer has commented on Joshua Kimmich's uncertain future, saying he would like to see him stay at the club for the rest of his career.

With his contract at Bayern Munich expiring in the summer of 2025, Joshua Kimmich's future at the club remains up in the air.

Kimmich is in talks with club bosses Christoph Freund and Max Eberl over a new deal, but there's been no breakthrough, with reports suggesting the 29-year-old would have to accept a pay cut to extend his contract.

Speaking at the presentation of a documentary about the club's women's team, FC Bayern chairman Herbert Hainer made it clear how much he wants Kimmich to stay.

"I would be happy if he ended his career at Bayern, and not next year, but many, many years from now," Hainer said.

“I believe Joshua is happy in Munich, everything else will come from the talks with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund.”

Kimmich was recently announced as Germany's new captain and Hainer was quick to offer his congratulations.

“I congratulated Joshua immediately and he replied within two minutes. That shows how much I appreciate him and what I think of him. He absolutely deserves it. He's someone who always leads the way, who always wants to give his best.”
