Until last week, when Stuttgart announced the €11 million signing of Ozan Kabak from Galatasaray, Pablo Maffeo was the club's record signing.

There were high expectations for the right-back when he was brought in from Manchester City in a €9 million deal last summer, but until now, he hasn't been able to make the impact that the Swabian club hoped he would.

Now, Maffeo could be sent out on loan, Stuttgart sporting director Michael Reschke says.

"There are a few inquiries. But everything has to fit - for us as well," he told Bild.

The 21-year-old has seen his playing time limited since Markus Weinzierl took over as coach in October. When Stuttgart lost 2-3 to Mainz on Saturday, he wasn't even in the squad.

"I'll be honest: For me, he doesn't do enough. I'm criticizing his willingness to perform. Currently, Gonzalo Castro and 'Andi' Beck are ahead of him at his position," Weinzierl told Bild when he was asked about his decision to exclude Maffeo from his squad.

Maffeo has made a total of nine appearances for Stuttgart.
