Germany's "Sport Bild" tabloid reports that Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund are eyeing Morten Due Hjulmand as a potential addition for their summer midfield restock. The 23-year-old played two years in Austria after moving south from the FC Copenhagen academy and has, per the tabloid, impressed the BVB brass with his strong and focused performances for US Lecce in Italy's Serie A.

The Danish youth international could be purchased for a reasonable fee of around €15 million. It might be the case that die Schwarzgelben are keeping Hjulmand as a reserve option should the Edson Alvarez deal fall through. Another possible scenario could see the Westphalian club procure both Hjulmand and Alvarez in the event that (as is rumored) Emré Can is sold.

The Dane can be used variably in midfield, but is mostly known as a stay-at-home defensive six. Hjulmand's game can be likened to the role Can sometimes played for Dortmund this season as an additional defensive helper/semi-sweeper. Sebastian Kehl and the BVB administrative team are rumored to be shopping Can on the market rather than loose him on a free when his contract expires at the end of next season.
