Nathanaël Mbuku will play for Montpellier HSC on loan for the 2025-26 season, FC Augsburg have confirmed.

The French second division club has an option to purchase the 23-year-old, who returned to FCA from Dinamo Zagreb this summer.

Mbuku moved to Augsburg in winter of 2023 before a loan to French club AS Saint-Étienne, where he celebrated promotion in 2024.

After one season in Zagreb, he now has the chance to prove himself once again in Ligue 2 with La Paillade.

"Nathanaël has already had a very successful time in Ligue 2 and, with his goals, contributed to AS Saint-Étienne's promotion.

"When the opportunity for another move to France arose, he approached us with the desire to take advantage of this opportunity.

"We wish him every success there," said the Bavarian club's managing director Michael Ströll.
