The Irish striker was linked with VfL Wolfsburg and SC Freiburg but could be considered too expensive for either club now.

Last summer, Troy Parrott rejected an offer from VfL Wolfsburg and opted to stay with AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands.

Irish website ‘The 42’ reported that the Lower Saxony club had offered €18million for the 23-year-old, but another plan is in place for 2026.

The striker intends to move to a top club in France, Spain, Italy, or Portugal. However, a stint in the Bundesliga is also still on the table.

Parrott's form has been on a steep upward trajectory this season with six goals in seven Eredivisie matches so far.

He also has 7 goals in five Conference League qualifying games, and a brace in Ireland's 2-0 victory against Portugal two days ago.

Prior to Alkmaar, Parrott was also linked with SC Freiburg, but signing him now would prove difficult for both Wolfsburg and the Breisgauers.

Parrott is under contract with AZ until 2029, so the Dutch club definitely holds the upper hand and can demand a hefty price tag.
