Ex-Bayern midfielder Lothar Matthäus believes the German topflight would benefit if Borussia Dortmund beat Bayern Munich this Saturday.

“An exciting championship to the end would be more attractive for the Bundesliga, also in terms of interest abroad," he told BILD.

"It would be good for the Bundesliga if Dortmund, in this case the underdog, creates the sensation against the unbeatable Bayern.

“Of course, three points would be best. But at least they shouldn't lose if they want to stay within striking distance,” Matthäus added.

The Bavarians have often enjoyed their encounters with BVB, however they are winless in their last 3 outings against the Westphalians.

Saturday evening (6.30pm CET) sees the two giants of the Bundesliga clash for the first time this season - it ought to be a cracker!
