Bayern Munich are looking to strengthen in central midfield this summer, with West Ham United's Declan Rice understood to be their primary target.

This could lead to less playing time for Leon Goretzka, but the midfielder currently wants to stay and welcome the competition, according to Sky Germany.

Should that change, Manchester United are likely to be ready to make a move for him, with the report claiming that the Red Devils are closely monitoring the 28-year-old's situation.

Manchester United had another central midfielder, Marcel Sabitzer, on loan from Bayern for the 2022/23 season.

The Daily Mail reported about a week ago that the Premier League side will not sign the Austria international on a permanent basis.
