"I believe Bayern have a psychological advantage that isn't insignificant. For the first time since last season's semi-final against Real Madrid, Bayern aren't seen as favourites. It's the first time that there's more pressure on the opponent (apart from the away game against BVB perhaps)," Matthäus wrote in his column for Sky and continued:
"The expectations for Liverpool are extremely high thanks to the great work of Jürgen Klopp. With his style, great transfer policy, the atmosphere at the club and quality on the pitch, Klopp has made the whole world talk about Liverpool once again."
"Suddenly, they are favourites for the Premier League and the Champions League. However, this also increases pressure and expectations from the outside. And that's what the players feel. That's an advantage for Bayern München, because few expect them to go clearly through."
Liverpool and Bayern will meet at Anfield Road tonight for the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie between the two sides.
