26-year-old Belgian centre-back Siebe van der Heyden has joined FC St. Pauli.

The Bundesliga outfit confirmed the defender's arrival on loan from Mallorca for the remainder of the season on Thursday.

“Signing Siebe gives us significantly more defensive options, as being a left-sided player he can be used both in central defence on the left flank. He also has the necessary experience on a very good international level to help us straightaway,” said FC St. Pauli director of sport Andreas Bornemann.

Van der Heyden, who has been limited to just two appearances for Mallorca this season, commented:

"I'm happy to be given a chance to prove myself in the Bundesliga at FC St. Pauli. The team has been very solid defensively so far this season and I'd like to play my part in ensuring it stays that way. I'm very excited about experiencing the atmosphere at the Millerntor and my goal is to be out there on the pitch very soon."
