Return to fitness near but questions hang over Weiser's future at Bremen

The 32-year-old wing-back is close to returning from an ACL injury that has kept him sidelined since last July.

Although BILD is speculating that Mitchell Weiser will rejoin team training soon, it doesn't guarantee he'll play again this season.

The Werder Bremen defender tore his cruciate ligament last July and since then, has been working hard for a return to the pitch.

Despite the 32-year-old nearing closer to a comeback, there are just four fixtures remaining in the current Bundesliga campaign.

However, Weiser's contract expires in two months, so his last match for Werder could be the 4-1 victory on Matchday 34 of last season.

It's worth noting Weiser has had a ready-to-sign offer on the table for some time, but apparently hasn't made a decision yet.

Regardless, further talks about an extension are expected soon although the outcome seems completely open on the player's end.
