Bayern Munich supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that Vincent Kompany is about to become the club's new coach.
Reports last week suggested that Bayern had reached a full agreement to bring in Kompany from Burnley to replace the departing Thomas Tuchel.
And in an interview with Sky on Tuesday, Rummenigge confirmed that a deal is close to completion.
“Our sporting director has chosen Kompany, it's not official yet, there are just some final details to settle,” Rummenigge told Sky.
He went on to reveal that former Bayern Munich coach and current Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola helped in the selection process.
"He gave us a big helping hand. He had him as captain at City and he also followed him when he was at Burnley," Rummenigge said.
Kompany took the reins of Burnley in July 2022 and led them to Premier League promotion in his first season in charge.
The club finished 19th in the Premier League in the 2023/24 season under the former Manchester City star.
