197 games, 57 goals, domestic double winner, and Bundesliga Player of the Season. Florian Wirtz’s time in the Bundesliga came to an end as Liverpool completed the move for a record transfer sum in English football.

The German international arrived in Liverpool yesterday to undergo his medical procedure, and it’s now completed as both clubs released official statements. Bayern Munich had the player on their radar for a long time before losing the race to the Premier League champions.

"It's not easy to leave after five and a half great years,” said Wirtz in his final interview with the club. “I've experienced unique things and incredible moments here at Leverkusen. The club always supported me and believed in me, including during the difficult time with my injury.”

Wirtz was sidelined for nearly a year before making a strong return from an ACL injury. Earlier in the window, Liverpool completed the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen. The two clubs will be expected to remain in contact for Jarell Quansah's impending move to Die Werkself.
