Alphonso Davies is on the verge of extending his contract with Bayern München beyond the end of the season.

That's according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, who claims that there only a “small gap” remains on the proposed four-year deal and that an agreement is expected to be reached.

Bayern and Davies have been in talks for some time over a new deal, with the player's salary the main sticking point.

Bild reported on Thursday that the parties were still struggling to find a solution, but there now appears to have been a breakthrough.

Davies, 24, has made 23 appearances in all competitions for Bayern this season, scoring once and providing three assists.
