Neuer and Kahn laud de Ligt

Manuel Neuer and Oliver Kahn have praised Bayern newcomer Matthijs de Ligt.
Bayern München captain Manuel Neuer and CEO Oliver Kahn have spoken highly of Matthijs de Ligt ahead of the centre-back'impending move from Juventus.

"He is really someone who can lead, who has charisma, who is a great defender. From my feeling, as I've watched him lately, he's very close to German football. I don't think it will take him a long time to integrate," Neuer told Bild (via @iMiaSanMia).

"He simply brings qualities and values with him. Things have always worked out well for us with Dutch players, I've played with a few before.

"It's important to show presence in defense, also in terms of body language, that's what David Alaba did a lot. Basically, as a defensive player, you're grateful when you have players who can lead from behind," emphasized Neuer.

Kahn is quoted as saying by Sport1:

"He's tall, good in one-versus-one situations, good in the air, loud and very present considering his age of 22. These qualities are very important for us.

"He was immediately convinced that he wanted to join FC Bayern."

Kahn also played down reports suggesting that Bayern are looking to offload a centre-back after signing de Ligt.

"At the moment we are not thinking about letting anyone go," said the Bayern chief.

"We're always looking at what other positions our players can play. After all, there's nothing better than having flexible players."
