Heavy rainfall may lead to postponement of Bayern's Pokal fixture

With more heavy rainfall forecast in Germany's Saarland region tomorrow, the Wednesday Pokal fixture between FC Bayern München and 1. FC Saarbrucken may have to be postponed.
A 3. Liga encounter between 1. FC Saarbrücken and Dynamo Dresden had to be abandoned on Sunday afternoon due to heavy rainfall that left the hosting team's pitch service unplayable. Heavy rainfall led to the fixture being called off after 45 minutes. As heavy rainfall continued through Sunday evening, officials at both the club and the German FA are keeping a close eye on the situation as Saarbrücken prepares to host German record champions FC Bayern München in a round two DFB-Pokal tie on Wednesday evening.

Germany's preeminent footballing publication reports that - with nearby alternate venues such as those belonging to FC Homburg and 1. FC Kaiserslautern already booked with round two Pokal fixtures, switching stadiums is not an option at this point. The fixture will thus have to be postponed if continued forecast  rainfall on Tuesday jeopardizes the pitch. The third tier club itself issued a statement on Monday saying that a decision will be made "as soon as possible."
