Xavi Simons on Bayern interest: "There are always talks in football"

According to reports, Xavi Simons was one of the players Bayern Munich considered over the summer. The Dutchman, who ultimately joined Tottenham, has remained coy on the matter.

Xavi Simons has remained tight-lipped about speculation that he was in negotiations with Bayern Munich over a summer move before signing for Tottenham from RB Leipzig.

“There are always talks in football, but I don’t want to name any names. Max (Eberl, Bayern's board member for sport, editor's note) was one of those who brought me to RB, and I will always be grateful to him for that,” Xavi Simons told the Leipziger Volkszeitung.

The Dutchman ultimately moved to Tottenham for a reported €65 million.

“The most important thing was to find a place where I can continue to develop and play my style of football. That’s the case with Spurs," said Xavi.

"My first impressions of the club are fantastic – I felt the energy and ambition when I was introduced to the fans,” he explained.
