Back in the summer of 2023, Mergim Berisha left FC Augsburg to join TSG Hoffenheim for a reported €14 million.

After a difficult spell at Hoffenheim, the 26-year-old striker now returns to Augsburg on loan for the remainder of the season.

“I really wanted to return to FCA because this is where I experienced the best time of my career,” said Berisha.

“I felt at home here, scored lots of goals and improved a lot as a player. I'm very grateful to the club's management team for giving me the opportunity to return. I want to play regularly again and will do everything to repay the trust that's been placed in me.”

Augsburg sporting director Marinko Jurendic commented:

"Mergim knows our club and the surroundings well. He scored some important goals during his time in Augsburg and became a senior Germany international during his time here.

“Mergim will hopefully find his way back to his old strength while at FCA and his player profile provides us with additional options in attack. We're looking forward to working with him and wish him all the best for a successful time here.”

Berisha has found the net just once in 17 games for Hoffenheim this season.
