Reports: Bochum set to bring keeper Horn back to German football

North-Rhine Westphalia's "Ruhr Nachrichten" newspaper and VfL Bochum's "Tief im Westen" fan magazine claim that the Revierklub are set to bring in former 1. FC Köln mainstay Timo Horn to help shore up the goalkeeping portion of their roster.

Following the announcement that keeper Niclas Thiede would be loaned out to SSV Ulm 1846 yesterday, it was widely expected that top tier side VfL Bochum would bring in another experienced net-minder to compete with summer signing Patrick Drewes. Two reliable sources are now reporting that former Köln mainstay Timo Horn shall fill this need. The 31-year-old is available on a free following his recent release from RB Salzburg.

Horn has extensive Bundesliga experience, having made 201 top-tier appearances for the Effzeh between 2012 and 2023. The heavily-capped German youth international and DFB Olympic representative ultimately lost his starting place with the cathedral city side to Marvin Schwäbe during the 2021/22 campaign. He made just three appearance with Salzburg after signing with the Austrian Red Bulls last January.

Long-time VfL keeper Manuel Riemann remains on the Revierklub's roster for now, but is expected to sign elsewhere ahead of the coming season. Horn shall be reunited with goalkeeping coach Sebastian Baumgartner, who recently left Salzburg to join newly-appointed VfL trainer Peter Zeidler's staff this summer. North-Rhine Westphalia's "Ruhr Nachrichten" newspaper and VfL Bochum's "Tief im Westen" magazine both confirm Horn's imminent arrival.
