Burkardt says he will stay at Mainz, dismisses Newcastle links
Despite reports linking him with a move away from Mainz, Jonathan Burkardt has no plans to leave the club this summer.

"The current status is that I will stay with Mainz and definitely play the season here," Burkardt told Kicker.
Much to his own surprise, the striker has recently been linked with a move to Newcastle United.
"I don't know anything about it myself and it doesn't interest me at all," he emphasized.
The 22-year-old forward was Mainz's leading goalscorer last season, finding the net 11 times in the Bundesliga.
