Kahn on Bayern's form crisis: "Inconsistency is our consistency"

Oliver Kahn has shared his thoughts on Bayern Munich's recent disappointing form.
Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn has hit out at the club's recent performances and urged the players to show more consistency.

Since replacing Julian Nagelsmann with Thomas Tuchel as coach, the German record champions have won just two out of five games.

They were knocked out of the DFB-Pokal after a 2-1 defeat against Freiburg and have their backs against the wall in the Champions League after a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the first leg of the quarter-finals at the Etihad Stadium.

In an interview with Sport Bild, Kahn expressed his disappointment with the performances and mentality shown in recent weeks.

"We always want to win. These performances, with these results, hurt us. The same goes for the fans. The Pokal exit, the draw against Hoffenheim - of course we thought things would go differently," Kahn said and continued:

"We have over 20 international players in our squad. It's certainly not a lack of quality. There has been a lack of willingness recently. Inconsistency is our consistency. That cannot be the ambition of this team.

"Everyone needs to know what's at stake in the decisive phase of the season - to show who FC Bayern is. The only way we have a chance against Man City is if we bring that to the pitch.

"The last few games have shown that Thomas Tuchel has some major adjustments to make. Under Thomas Tuchel, the team will find its form and consistency," Kahn stressed.
