Union updates: FCU tender offer for Sadiki, another Gosens deal hits snag
In other FCU-related transfer news, talks with multiple clubs over the potential sale of Robin Gosens have yielded another right fine mess.
Köpenick's Eisernen continue to have great difficulty offloading the discontented German left flanker.
Union Berlin may be poised to complete their sixth summer signing. Writing on social media platform X yesterday, Belgian footballing journalist Sacha Tavolieri claims that the capital city's Köpenick side have tendered an offer for Union SG defensive midfielder Noah Sadiki. The 19-year-old featured regularly for his Belgian Pro League side last season, making 27 appearances as a right back, central midfielder, and sweeper.
Sadiki - who has already represented Belgium and Congo DR at the U21 level - maintains an estimated market worth of €5 million. The youngster could constitute a worthwhile investment and definite upgrade to the departed Alex Kral. In total, the teenager has already made 57 appearances for his club. He's garnered three league assists for Union 60.
On the FCU departure front, disaffected German left fullback/wingback/winger Robin Gosens continues to be the subject of outgoing transfer rumors. Union have already signed a new fullback in the form of Dortmund's Tom Rothe. A deal for Bochum's Bernardo is expected to be completed soon. Given that new Union head-coach Bo Svensson already has Jerome Roussillon on the roster, there appears no place for Gosens.
It nevertheless appears as if a rumored move back to the Serie A is not happening. Torino FC President Urbano Cairo has all but confirmed that a Gosens sale has collapsed. Sky Germany now brings PSV Eindhoven into the mix while Germany's "Sport Bild" tabloid claims Beşiktaş JK might be interested. Cairo's quotes nevertheless suggest that the 30-year-old may not want to move.
"It's not a problem of salary, but of conviction," Cairo is quoted as saying on transfermarkt's German host site, "If there is no conviction, it can't be done. He's thinking it over because he doesn't know if the choice is right; if the coach wants him there."
