1.FC Nürnberg has appointed a new technical director who will work closely with sports director Joti Chatzialexiou.

New man in, Michael Bischof, will now be responsible for scouting, transfers and squad planning at the Bavarian club.

The 34-year-old worked for Karlsruher SC for a total of 14 years, most recently as Head of Development, Scouting & Analysis.

Here's what the 2.Bundesliga side's sporting director Chatzialexiou had to say about what Bischof can bring to the table:

“Michael has an extremely exciting CV and, with his profile, fits very well with 1.FC Nürnberg and our existing team.

"It is why I am very pleased to be able to fill the newly created position of Technical Director with him.

"We share the same perspective and the same view of the sporting area, and we exchange ideas intensively on various topics.

“It is important to both of us to continue to advance 1.FC Nürnberg holistically and thus jointly create the conditions for the club's sporting success,” he added.
