RB Leipzig managing director for sport Marcel Schäfer recently played down growing links between Yan Diomande and Paris Saint-Germain, insisting the club have no intention of letting the 19-year-old leave this summer.

However, Diomande himself said at a press conference ahead of Ivory Coast’s World Cup round of 32 clash with Norway that he “expects” to leave the Bundesliga club.

“First of all, like I said, my dream is to play for my country and make history with my country,” Diomande said, before addressing the speculation.

“I don’t have Instagram anymore, I don’t have TikTok, so I can’t see anything, but I expect to leave, of course.

“I have an agent who will handle the rest, but for me the most important thing right now is focusing on the World Cup with my country and making history with them.”

The match between Ivory Coast and Norway kicks off on Tuesday at 19:00 CEST.
