German legend Rudi Völler will remain as DFB sporting director until the end of his current contract in 2028, Sky Germany has reported.

This extension of Völler's deal means he will retain his position in the German Football Association (DFB) until UEFA Euro 2028.

It was also the clear wish of Germany’s designated new Bundestrainer Jürgen Klopp, who has already spoken with Völler by phone.

Negotiations involving both the DFB and Klopp are expected to begin later this week on Friday, 10 July, in New York.

Discussions over Klopp’s exit from Red Bull, for whom he is their Global Head of Soccer, will follow shortly afterwards.
